Budding and professional filmmakers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan met with leaders of the Pikes Peak Region’s film scene. Directors of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film and the Youth Documentary Academy shared their efforts and long history creating a community for filmmakers in Southern Colorado. The #IVLP delegation expressed their interest submitting films to the annual Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival and possible future collaborations with the two organizations. CSWAC hosted Ms. Coppens for four days. Her visit was part of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). After Coppens received her IWOC award in Washington D.C., she traveled to El Paso County, Colorado to meet with several organizations to learn about U.S. grassroot movements, democracy, and government transparency and accountability.
