David Hendrickson, Author, “Republic in Peril: American Empire and the Liberal Tradition” and Chair, Political Science Department, Colorado College
Professor David Hendrickson has taught at Colorado College since 1983 and is currently chair of the Political Science Department, where he teaches courses in American foreign policy and international relations and directs the journalism minor.
He is the author of eight books, most recently Republic in Peril: American Empire and the Liberal Tradition (Oxford University Press, 2018). Named a full professor in 1996, Hendrickson served as the Robert J. Fox Distinguished Service Professor from 2004 to 2009. He was the Whitney Shephardson fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in 1991-92, and since received fellowships from the The Lehrman Institute, the Olin Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Coalition for a Realistic Foreign Policy. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University.
